It’s not an email. It’s not a platform. And it’s definitely not a sales pitch with a subscribe button. Here’s what a newsletter actually is — and why understanding matters for your business.
I get so frustrated when folks build on rented land and don't even realize it!
Awareness and memory is a great way to frame it. My mental frame on this was set in early 2000s as you have a home (generally a website of some sort) and then you use social as gasoline on the fire (blanking on which social dude used that phrasing). Live here/shout there sorta thing.
And if you're doing Substack wrong . . . there's no hope for any of us.
Have a wonderful, squirrels-in-the-house-free Friday :)
The ownership point is huge.
Social builds awareness, but newsletters build memory.
And memory is what drives decisions later.
I did overthink formats, and I am probably still not doing susbstack the right way, but at this point, IDGAF lol
TGIF Bryant.
I hope you have a wonderful Friday and a good weekend.

okay then I am doing some things right.
The internet stuff is all new-ish to me, but it can all go away in 2 seconds.
We are at the mercy of platforms.
Thank you so much, Bryant.
At least one, maybe two things ;)
And, no lie, understanding that the platforms are your frenemies, not your friend, puts you ahead of a buncha folks.
