When I stopped worrying about platforms and focused on creating content that truly adds value, everything clicked. Wrestling with how to serve people through my writing on yoga and meditation has ultimately forced me to master my own craft in the process!
Well said, Daphne. While I do think you (general you, not you you) need to have at least a broad understanding of how platforms work, nailing the “add value” mindset is key.
The internet has a fascinating habit of killing things that are still making money. Blogs are dead. Email is dead. Newsletters are dead. So fucking exhausting. But if you look at my inbox, it is somehow still the place companies are fighting hardest to reach me.
One quibble: “Folks desperate to sell things and have a ‘hot take’ on the” Internet love to kill things.
Egads, I need to get back home. I’m getting cranky.
As for the inbox, playing around with a post idea for next month around the idea of the “inbox as homepage.” Not sure if it’s got legs or not, but KBS-built gut says “probably.”

What! That's super cool!! I think I've seen one of the kinetic races too. I remember Fifi! Local legend! I'm north of Baltimore, I've lived here for over 20 years now, it's not a bad state, just stupid expensive and seems to be getting worse.
I love dipping into AVAM a few times a year, their store is a hoot. Being in Louisiana the last few weeks reminds me that sometimes paying a bit more in taxes can be a good thing. And the 10% sales tax on everything is a killer! So used to not paying tax on food it's a shock every time.
Have already decided that I'm not missing FIFi next year (well, unless it's raining too much).

Let’s see, in 2006 I was still in Germantown before moving to Ellicott City in 2009. Moved to Pigtown in 2020, so not close, but IN Bmore :)
I wouldn’t go in the water NOW, but, great googally moogally it was gross back then. And, slightly jealous.
I did manage to catch, finally, AVAM’s Kinetic Race last year — FiFi in action! Missed it earlier this year though.
